First Report from Salmon Harbor

I just got my first report this season from Captain Rick Mason,

"Hi all of you Halibut anglers! Last weekend proved to be very lucky for some of our customers onboard the "Miss Debbie." The ocean was at best a little rattie, and at times the wind became a problem holding the boat over the Halibut grounds, but some of our customers landed their Halibut. The largest was 64 pounds with some of the others in the 35 to 45 pound class, and we had our share of small ones also.

The other Charter boats, "Heather Ann" and the "Reelly Addicted", were limited out also with some nice Halibut, just about about the same story for all of us. We have 38% of the quota left so we will get some of the extra days in June and maybe in July if we are lucky.

The summer season will bring us a new quota and much larger fish moving in on the Halibut grounds.  August will be a great month to book your Halibut trip.  Anyway, tight lines to all, and we will send out reports during the Halibut, Tuna and Coho Salmon season to keep you posted.

Captain Rick, at Sea Level"

This report was emailed to me by Salmon Harbor Charters.  If you have your own fishing report you'd like to share from the Winchester Bay or Umpqua River area, please email me!
